Unbelieveable Service...

And not in a good way! I actually can't believe what I've just heard, and even though I have oodles of work to get through, I have to take a minute to catch my breath and tell someone what my ears can't believe. David's not answering his phone at work, so you're going to be my sound board I'm afraid.

I have a problem with the disk drive on my laptop. cut a long story short, not working. I rang Domestic and General to get it fixed (I have a policy with them) and they directed me to a repair company. I've just rang them and they said that would be 4-5 WEEKS before I get my laptop back, most of that being bureaucracy and admin from what I can work out. How ridiculous! I just can't believe it. I'm paying £100 per year for the cover of my laptop (and please don't tell me I've been ripped off on that count too, 'cos I just couldn't handle it at the moment), only to be told that I'm to be without the one thing that I need everyday, and when I don't have it I feel like I've lost a child.

So, the claim will have to wait a couple of weeks because I have some work to do which I desperately need my laptop for, and then I'm going to have to wave it goodbye, tearfully at the door whilst it goes on its holiday.

Feel better for that. Still gobsmacked though!

Love, Clare x

Sorry to hear that. I too had that happen a couple of months ago. Hopefully you will be able to get it back much quicker. And not being charged anything else.

I would be like us not being able to see your work all the time. That would not be nice.

yep shocking...I would ring back up...ask to speak to "Mr Boss Man"..of course be expected to be passed around a few peeps first and then explain that it's your work..(which you've probably done already) and if you don't get someone to fix it in the next couple of days, you will pull out of your contract.
Even PC World is quicker than that!

Sheesh..what's the world coming to and you have my sympathy cause I'm feelin ya pain on the puter front..hope you get it sorted out pronto.x

It's definately unbelievable service...get it fixed...complain to insurer...then change insurers...surely these people are aware laptops are needed for work and people can't be without them for weeks.

ooo i sooooo know how you feel claire, when my pc broke i ran PC world as my computer had previously been covered by them, but a month after the cover was up if breaks typical, anyho they said that it would be at least 2 weeks after i brought it down to them before they would even look at it :(, and it would cost me £50 just for them to look (and i mean look, not actually do anything else with it) so i had to find some where else, luckily i found a repair shop close to where i live and it they got my computer fixed and back to me in just over a week, plus they were soooo much cheaper than pc world, if i had of left it with pc world i would still have been waiting for it to even be looked at in this time,

sorry i ranted a bit there, good to get that of my chest though :)

xx

I just don't know what the heck is going on these days...It's almost as though things aren't built to last more than a year.
We bought our house from BOVIS from new 6 years ago and we are on our 2nd dishwasher and 3rd Washing machine! After Sales service is rubbish. The only company I recommend taking out the warranty from is DYSON...who basically have replaced virtually every piece of our 6 year old hoover in a next day pick up and returned within the week. So there! I feel all uppity now!
Good luck with your laptop!

clare ..

I too have a policy with D and G... pay the same as you too! Anyway, my keypad lost it's F9 keya while ago, they needed to replace it and again it took 4 to 5 weeks.. they put in an official complaint to the company as DG said the agreement they have with a company is only for it take a couple of weeks - I got it back just after the third week!

Crap service really - not like the other two lappy's in the house who are insured with PC world, two days and they're returned!

That's disgraceful service! I think the other peeps on your comments here are offering you some very good advice! They deserve to be sacked! xx

Clare, that's absolutely disgusting. 4-5 weeks is a long time even if you use a computer on an occasional basis but when it is needed for part of your working life it's far from acceptable. We've had problems in the past with D&G and sadly they haven't changed their service to their customers. I would get in touch with a couple of independant companies to see how long they'd need your laptop and then get back to the D&G and speak to "high" person and aks why they can't compete with other companies. It might get you somewhere. I hope you manage to get things sorted out. Best wishes, Kym xxx

Oh no, that's terrible. They are useless, aren't they, and for that price, you would at least expext proper service... Will it help if we all make a "Get well soon" card for your laptop? =)
Looking forward to seeing you on TV tomorrow, Clare!
